The Arab Youth Center launches the “Arab Youth Hackathon", in collaboration with regional and international institutions, in order to motivate Arab youth to submit their technical ideas and solutions tackling challenges the Arab world is facing today.
Participating in the Arab Youth Hackathon is not limited to experts in the field of technology and software development, any young man and woman can submit his/her innovative and capable idea that can turn into a project that serves their communities.
If your idea is shortlisted, you will be asked to commit to a one week of solution development with our trainers who will support you prepare your final pitch for the live pitching virtual event, where you will present your final solution in-front of a panel of judges (technical experts and decision-makers) that will assess it based on innovation, sustainability, social impact and relevance to the challenge.
About the First Iteration
The Arab Youth Center launched the first edition of the Arab Youth Hackathon, in partnership with the Crown Prince Foundation from Jordan, under the title "Youth’s role in times of Crises", for Arab youth to present their ideas for 6 different paths and challenges: Education, Economy, Food Security, Social Responsibility, Healthcare, and Employment. In order to motivate young people to share their ideas and compete to provide solutions and proposals that serve their reality today, and to contribute with them by employing technical and technological solutions to serve Arab societies.
The Second Iteration of the Arab Youth Hackathon (Current):
In light of the global repercussions of global warming and climate change, and in response to the aspirations of Arab youth for a greater role in global climate action, the Arab Youth Center announced the launch of the "Arab Youth Hackathon" in its second edition, in partnership with PepsiCo and Plug and Play; Under the title "Youth Solutions to Face Climate Change", to be the largest co-design platform of its kind for youth solutions.
In conjunction with the readiness of the United Arab Emirates to host the Conference of Parties (COP28), the hackathon provides an opportunity for Arab youth to share their ideas and present solutions and proposals that serve their reality today, and to contribute to employing technical and technological solutions to serve Arab societies facing challenges. Multiple challenges in the climate change file.
Applicants Criteria
Applications are open to every owner of an innovative idea or technical solution, whether you are a technical expert or an innovative individual with an idea!
Participation is open for:
- Participants who are 18-35 years old
- Participants with an innovative, clear, sustainable and actionable technical idea related to any of the 6 challenges
- Participants with the appropriate experience to implement the idea or supervise its implementation as a solution to help the Arab community deal with one of the six proposed challenges
