His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan was born in Abu Dhabi in 1970. After receiving his high school diploma through the Abu Dhabi school system, His Highness continued his studies in the United States, where he was awarded his Bachelor's degree in International Relations in 1993. HH Sheikh Mansour was appointed as Chairman of the Office of his late father, HH Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan, a post he held until Sheikh Zayed's sad demise in November 2004. In November 2004, HH Sheikh Mansour was appointed as the Minister of Presidential Affairs, a ministerial portfolio created following the amalgamation of The Office of HH the President and The Presidential Court to form the Ministry of Presidential Affairs. In 2006, His Highness was appointed Chairman of the Ministerial Council for Services. In 2007, HH Sheikh Mansour was appointed Chairman of the Emirates Investment Authority (EIA), the only Sovereign Wealth Fund of the Federal Government of the United Arab Emirates. In May 2009, with the formation of the new Cabinet, HH Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed was appointed Deputy Prime Minister, a position he holds to date along with that of Minister of Presidential Affairs. In addition, HH Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed chairs a number of local departments, public corporations and centres. Amongst these are - the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD), - the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD), which awards soft loans and grants to developing countries, - the National Centre for Documentation and Research (NCDR), - the Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority (ADFCA), - Abu Dhabi’s International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC), - the Board of Trustees of the National Centre of Meteorology & Seismology, - the Emirates Racing Authority, and - the Khalifa bin Zayed Charity Foundation (KBZF), a pioneer entity in supporting poor and needy communities through the provision of main infrastructure such as schools and hospitals, etc. In addition to these positions, HH Sheikh Mansour has been, since 2005, the Deputy Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC). He is also a member of the Supreme Petroleum Council (SPC), the Board of Directors of the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADICA), the Board of Directors of the Abu Dhabi Investment Council (ADIC) and the Border Affairs Council (BAC), the UAE's official competent authority mandated to deal with borders issues.
